Dear Members

Our March tasting saw 50 members and guests tasting South American wines hosted by Tasting Team members Hugh and Gillian Epsom. The venue was Restaurante Los Amigos, Javea who provided excellent food to accompany this tasting . A full report can be found by clicking here

Next Tasting April  20, 2023 – 7.30 pm

Our next meeting will be a wine tasting and food pairing at Republic Lounge, Marina de Denia, hosted by Caryl and Gordon Sellars. You will recall last year Gordon and Caryl hosted a similar format in this attractive venue.  As the theme of this evening is food-pairing will not be asked to make a choice of main course.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT BOOKINGS

With the launch of our new website we have now moved onto an online booking system for our tastings. Please DO NOT email or call Penny with your bookings but click on the link here or below. This will then take you to a page from where you can make your booking and, if applicable, bookings for any guests. Once you have completed the booking you will see a confirmation page requesting you to make your payment. In addition you will also receive an email with confirmation of your booking and payment instructions. This is now the only way you can reserve places. You will NOT be asked to select a main course for this tasting as it is a set menu.

Please note that bookings, as always, will close at 12.00 noon on the Friday before the event which is Friday 14th April. After that time, the booking system will not accept further bookings.

We have tested this system thoroughly and are confident it will work correctly however if you experience any issues please contact Shirley Sloggie (who is looking after our on line bookings) at bookings@cbws.eu

Dress code smart casual with jackets and optional ties.

Immediately before the next tasting we will be holding a short Extraordinary General Meeting .

This to approve a modification to the Statutes as we wish to change the registered address to that of a local lawyer. (Currently the registered address is that of the serving president and this change avoids the need to change the address each time a new president is elected)

Those attending will be asked to vote as this is a requirement of Generalitat in Alicante.

May Meeting – May 18th, 2023

A tasting organised by Paul and Helen Nicholls with a visit from the prestigious Marqués de Riscal bodega in Rioja at MR Hotel, Les Rotes, Denia.

June Meeting – June 15th, 2023

Our June meeting will take place at Restaurant Puerto Blanco, Calpe and will be hosted by Andrew & Kathy Johnson.  The restaurant’s sommelier will be guiding us through a food-pairing tasting.
