Tasting November 2024

CBWS Tasting held on 21/11/24 at Costa Marco and attended by 54 members and guests

Helen and Paul Nicholls presented the first ever “Regional Grape Challenge Trophy”. An educational evening of fun, good wine and what turned out to be, an extremely interesting and enjoyable evening.

Blind tasting of five bottles of a single grape variety wine, from different regions of Spain. Members, working by table, were asked to first identify the grape variety by taste alone and what region of Spain it came from. Then followed a description of the wine with an indication of the characteristics of the region the wine originated. Members were asked if their original thoughts from before the description of the wine had changed in light of the extra knowledge from the description and most of the room were convinced it had. Maps of wine regions and a list of grape varieties were on each table and points were awarded for a correct answer and a bonus point for two correct answers. IA clear winner emerged at the end of the evening and the Trophy was presented by our chairman Neville Richardson to the winning table.
